"Acupuncture is one of the few treatments available to a woman that offers a completely drug free and natural approach, enabling her to maintain good health and weelbeing throughout her life!" Acupuncture to Help Labour and Birth Acupuncture is used according to the wishes of the mother and can help with pain relief, also reduce the amoutn of medical intervention required during labour. With acupuncture, blood less can be reduced and efficient delivery of the plcenta can be promoted. There is usually ore oxygen available to the baby during birthing an d lbour, and the labour is usually shorter and more efficient in terms of contractions. Acupuncture can also be used during labour to help babies turn from back to back or posterior positions, and it has been noted that babies will turn, even during labour, as a result of acupuncture given as the labour is progressing. If labour is nor progressing well, is not established or the cervix is not dilating well, acupuncture will help to re-establish progession of labour, enhance contractions and dilate the cervix. It is not used to ensure a speeded up labour - this is not neccesarily a good thing! |
